It is said that Chanderi sarees are mentioned in the Mahabharata period of the Vedic period. Whether the pearl-embroidered sarees mention the Mahabharata which indicates Chanderi sarees is a matter of debate and discussion, but the history of Chanderi Saree can be traced back to the 13th or 14th century AD. Around 1350, Koshti weavers from Jhansi migrated to Chanderi and settled there. The Mughal period saw the golden period of weaving in Chanderi.

Chanderi sarees are produced from three kinds of fabric: pure silk, Chanderi cotton and silk cotton. Traditionally cotton and silk are combined using a complicated and intricate weaving process to produce a lightweight and beautiful fabric that combines the best of both fabrics. Traditional coin, floral art, peacocks and modern geometric designs are woven into different Chanderi patterns. The saris are among the finest in India and are known for their gold and silver brocade or zari, fine silk, and opulent embroidery.

This beautifully woven Chanderi cotton silk saree with matching pallu is just perfect. The saree is engraved with perfectly aligned floral motif jaal embraced within the framework of narrow zari border. The pallu derives inspiration from medieval India architecture and showcase floral and geometrical pattern. It’s zari border is embellished with triangular motif. Best suited for workplace, events and parties.
